Ever wonder what it would be like to be forcefully removed from your home, country, and life as you currently knew? Gabriel Bol Deng does. Gabriel, one of 27,000 young boys known as the "Lost Boys" of Sudan, was forced to flee his country and walk 1,000 miles without food or shelter. As a survivor of the horrendous walk, he spent 10 years in a refugee camp until he was sponsored to safety in the United States.
The Rome Free Book Club and the Social Action Corps have teamed up and are sponsoring Gabriel Bol Deng to come and speak at RFA on May 20. The free presentation will begin at 7:00 in the RFA auditorium and all are welcome to attend. Prior to the presentation, there will be a fundraising dinner at 5:00. Tickets for the dinner are $10. Don't miss out on this superb opportunity!
iPods available at the library
The RFA library was the recipient of a district grant from which it received ten iPods. These iPods are to be utilized primarily as tools for English language learners, or to any other student that would benefit by listening to audio books. Teachers are welcome to sign out the devices for their classrooms as well. The library website off of www.romecsd.org has a list of all available auido books. Don't let these iPods go to waste!
