can't compete with chewie...
the expo was definitely an experience...
my table was in the dealer area---- all the other artists were together in
another part...so i was between a couple from rochester selling golden
age comics and two cool dudes selling newer stuff.
it all went downhill from there. the free posters i had
made up were somewhat of a hit--- i had a few takers, but for the most part people didn't know i was there---i was across from dealers too so i only saw people's backs. great way to spend a lazy sunday morning. i brought some work with me so i wasn't totally bored... but i did forget my ipod earphones. i'm thinking i might look into getting some sort of surgically implanted ipod jack so this sort of thing doesn't happen again---isurgery?

by the time 1pm rolled around you know how many books i sold? one.
one book.
then a little blonde kid looked at the posters and gleefully and honestly proclaimed that bob didn't look like a squirrel. that's when the gravity of my less than perfect day and my tedious hold on sanity just went away...
i jumped over my table, flinging comic books, business cards and free bob posters all over the dealer area...it took two hefty stormtroopers and chewbacca to hold my 5 ft. 11 frame back from teaching this ten year old a harsh art lesson.
this was all in my head of course... i did get into a verbal fight with this kid--- boiling down to a "yes it does, no it's doesn't..." type of interaction culminating with me telling him to get lost. i was having a really bad day---and shortly after this i started packing my
car up.
i took the $3.50 i made at the show and went to taco bell before hitting the thruway...the post expo feast left me 16¢ in the hole for the day. and you would think that would be it, right?

nah baby... the tacos didn't make me violently sick...i think mineral water would have done the same thing after the day i had...
i just had a bad day. period. it happens. i'm sure future expos will be much more successful and i by no means think this is the end of my convention-going. the experience makes for great blogging and eventually strips.
