so last weekend i had a mini breakdown...this painting project was going to put me in the grave faster than my love for doritios and diet coke.  with #4 i lapsed back into the cartoony thing--- so i vowed i wouldn't repeat that...which led me to this:
five:
it's not a bad piece, but you can tell that i really wasn't feeling it.  that's when i realized that for better or for worse i am a cartoonist... there are funnly looking, non-realistic creatures swimming in a sea of funky colors and india ink within my dna... there is just no way around that.

i tried to be something that i'm really not.  you should never do that...

after the multiple personalities in my head duked it out for a bit, the one who won decided to do what comes naturally--- not to force realism into my work unless i REALLY want to be real...

so i chose not to be really real for #6
six:
it's sad--- but in a cartoony way...

Ralph Robert

Frank,

I have been following Bob for quite a while now and have also been reading your blog for the same. I am emailing because I think that it is time I put my two cents in. I will also leave my name and email address with it too unlike some other people whose name I won't ...uhm... can't  mention. Anyway, my fiance and I love your strip. I email it to her every morning and it is always the subject of conversation back in forth for a few emails. Bob is great, he has a knack for saying the things that most of us just kick around in our heads but would never speak out loud. Besides that, he has great taste in music.

About the personalities duking it out in your head, man all you have to do is be Frank. If Frank want's to paint then paint. It doesn't matter if you paint cartoony looking stuff or the kind of things that the curly headed guy use to paint on PBS so be it. It's what you do, not who you are. Sorry I had to say that even if it's been told to you before or even if you already know it. My fiance always tells me that I am one of the best she knows at stating the obvious.

In closing I will tell you what I tell my 4 year old son at least once a day.." Silly people are the ones that have all the fun"

Keep up the good work!,

Ralph
